One thing I've learned early in my fandom career and about the furry fandom itself is that you should, or it’s expected that you should, create a backstory for your fursona as soon as possible, and you should do so through your own preferred creative medium.
It’s taken a while for me to decide on what and how I wanted to present it, and I did make some progress on its backstory a long time ago, but I still have a lot of story to build around it. That is an ongoing development that I'm trying to finalise, and this dispatch is the first entry talking about a media feature "show" for it.
I know that I wanted him to be a captain of an airship or several airships, and as he is a ringmaster, they would have to be in a convoy, a "flying circus convoy," much the same way we have convoys of circus trucks or a train of circus carriages but wooden-based airships.
As I'm building Furtainment and FurShows, I decided that I wanted to choose a show as my preferred media, and as I am into Steampunk, which I started to express through the virtual world of Second Life as my avatar Steampunk Gears, he would be a Steampunk ringmaster.

This is just a quick work‑in‑progress model of Voxel Bricks I’ve been experimenting with. It’s not related to the show itself, I just like showing you some of my human created art, by dropping in whatever’s on my desk to break up the text and keep the Dispatch feeling like a real studio log. https://www.bokunofanservice.com/search/highwire+skys/
This leads me into choosing the show name Highwire Skys, with a misspelling of skies, but I still feel it’s a charming name for a backstory show.
I’m not an anime expert, though I do consider myself a weeb, so I believe a lot of anime leans into misspellings, and my reason for doing so is I prefer the misspelling, but also most international audiences might expect to just add an 's' onto 'sky', so it might seem more natural even though it’s an English language mistake, as it should be spelt 'skies'.
I can see this becoming a minor talking point about why it’s misspelled, which might add a little more flavored interest to the show along with other lore I develop as time goes on.
Now if you're wondering about Highwire, this, as you might all ready know, is a circus word used to describe highwire acts, and as my circus is in the sky inside a large airship or a cluster of airships, I think it tracks with the theme of the show.
As for the shows' website, it's being moved from where it's hosted currently, and I've mostly completed the design of the template I will be using for all shows and movies and will roll that out as soon as I can so I can get started building the site up.
I'm planning that once everything is set up and organised correctly, I can just focus on publishing content.
Next Steps:
- Create more backstory
- Start a comic
- Write more about it
