I made part of this comment on Bsky not long ago. I decided it would make a good dispatch entry for me to establish what success looks like for me, as I don't believe it's what everyone else is aiming for online.
I think for me personally societal expectations and social media algorithms have primed me to think success is a large follower number, lots of interactions and things going on around me. I think for me that’s wrong, as is the fact the majority of people online don’t interact or follow, which is known as the 1% rule.
I should be able to distinguish what success looks like for me when not compared to the top 1% of noisemakers.
I think success for me is having a dream or idea, then learning to develop or build it by learning new skills, then finishing it, therefore keeping my word if I’ve publicly said I wanted to do it.
My long-term goals are to build a large shareable archive of 3D models, educational knowledge, and art that other creators are happy to download and remix into their own projects or just learn from.
Random WIP Artwork:
This is just a quick work‑in‑progress model of a voxel fire hydrant I’ve been experimenting with. It’s not related to the domain or show itself, I just like dropping in whatever’s on my desk to break up the text and keep the Dispatch feeling like a real studio log. Final artwork for the domain and show will come later once the concept settles in future dispatch entries be sure to check them out! https://www.bokunofanservice.com/search/thoughts/
Most of which will require thorough licensing to mention or backlink to me; however, I do aim to create a small collection of fully public domain content for making animated shows and movies.
As I’ve mentioned before in previous dispatches, I aim to become a professor of technical arts, so success for me is each step I take towards this goal and that of growing a body of work, assets, and downloads for other people to learn and grow their own skills from.
As my goals are less influencer-based and more educational-based, I don’t expect many followers or likes or anything social media-related, but I do hope for quiet interactions through the usage of my working knowledge and shared assets.
Next Steps:
- Work towards my goals
- Write more about them
- Share my content
