Boku No Fanservice, Dispatch 14 - Steam Machines

As I discussed in dispatch 04, I picked up two Gladius M35 cases for my steam machines, I wanted to talk further about what and how I plan to use them in my day-to-day work.

I have actually decided to try to buy 4 of them; I own 2 at the moment, and the reason for this is that I wish to have one personal Steam machine to separate my gaming from my day-to-day workstation and three development machines dedicated to the hardware disclosed on Steam that are of high, medium, and low tier.

This will help me test games. I personally develop with real-world hardware that I can restrict or change out at will and allow me to benchmark them with industry-standard benchmark software and my own designed custom in-game benchmark software.

If I find more of them, I would consider buying them so I can expand my hardware testing setups; I could then look at testing on AMD and Intel graphics cards and keep permanent setups for development cycle quality and assurance testing.

I think most testing is done on simulated hardware, but I think having actual real-world hardware that people are using will provide me with a better benchmark and help me better understand any bugs and how to fix them.

If I picked up more cases, I could look at running some with popular Linux distros and Windows, but I don't think I could support Mac, as it's expensive to do so and the pool of people who want to game on Mac is low.
