Boku No Fanservice, Dispatch 04 - Steam Machines

I’d like to dedicate this dispatch to talking about SteamOS. On the 17 Dec 2025, I bought a Gladius M35 PC case for only £24.90 from eBay with the intent to build it into a Gen5 SteamOS Gaming PC. I decided a while ago that I should separate my day-to-day workstation from my gaming, rendering, and 3D work due to Windows 11 OS upgrade bugs that have caused me many issues when attempting Windows updates.

Alongside that, they have been using AI to code all parts of the operating system, which is likely causing the bugs, and moving forward with my work, I can't afford too much downtime, as it's likely I will have content schedules to meet.

So as I already have one PC case, I wanted another that I can dedicate to testing games I develop. I've just managed to source a second one, the M35W version, which has a glass side panel window but is essentially identical for all other purposes.

This second case was not expensive either at just £26.71 including postage, so now I'm pretty happy to have a dedicated pair of cases for SteamOS to separate my day-to-day gaming and game development for Furtainment (SnackFerret Studio).

Hopefully in the next dispatch about these cases I will be able to show more progress on the builds, what parts I picked and why, and if I need to wait on prices to come down due to AI companies buying up almost all of the stock.
